Airbus UK Broughton manager Craig Harrison is making a surprise new year signing – himself!
Harrison, 32, has not kicked a ball competitively since his career was wrecked by a double compound leg fracture while at Crystal Palace in 2002, but he has decided to make a comeback to fill his team’s need for a left-sided player, the Daily Post is reporting.
“I still train with the lads and the players always say that in five-a-side matches the one to avoid in the tackle is Craig,” says Harrison.
“We’ll see how it goes, but if I can’t sign a left-sided player then I’ll put myself forward. I’m definitely registering as a player regardless.
“I need to get fitter and lose some weight, and I can’t play for a few weeks anyway as I’m still serving a five-match touchline ban for getting sent to the stands in the Welsh Cup tie against Connah’s Quay. After that we’ll see what happens.”
